Professor Makov investigates how human behavior interacts with sustainable business practices, emerging technologies, and entrepreneurship and how such interactions affect the potential of demand side solutions to address complex social and environmental challenges. By bridging behavioral decision-making with computational data modelling, and environmental impact assessments (e.g. LCA), she develops rigorous, system-level insights designed to inform theory, policy, business strategy and consumer decision making on solutions including digital marketplaces, sustainable food systems and the circular economy. Makov’s work has been published in high impact journals including Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS), Nature Climate Change, ES&T and Nature communications, and is funded by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, Internet Society Foundation, Israeli Science Foundation (ISF), and the German - Israeli Foundation for Scientific Research and Development (GIF), among others.

 

Makov is currently an Associate Professor at the Guilford Glazer Faculty of Business and Management and the Sonnenfeldt School for Sustainability at Climate change at BGU. She holds a PhD and MA in Environmental Management from Yale University, and a B.Sc. in Nutrition science from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
